BE FEVEER
Major:
B = blood culture +ve more than 2 times 12 hours part
E = Endocardial involvement from Echo
Minor:
F = Fever
E = Echo findings (not fulfilling a major)
V = Vascular findings *1
E = Evidences microbiological
E = Evidences immunological *2
R = Risk factors/predisposing factors - drug abuse, valvular diseases
Clinical criteria for infective endocarditis requires:
• Two major criteria, or
• One major and three minor criteria, or
• Five minor criteria
*1 major arterial emboli, septic pulmonary infarcts, mycotic aneurysm, intracranial hemorrhage, conjunctival hemorrhages, and Janeway lesions
*2 glomerulonephritis, Osler's nodes, Roth spots, and rheumatoid factor
